Compliance mandates affect all JD Edwards World clients, with a growing need for accountability in all sectors. Mandates such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and FDA Regulation 21 CFR Part 11 require documentation and control in both business and IT management processes. JD Edwards World Release A9.1 is planned to include:
- Address Book
Security is planned to be increased through the proliferation of business unit security into additional address book application, inactivation codes by system and the merging of search type and action codes security.
- Approvals Workflow
Expanded regulatory oversight means that customers must be able to demonstrate that data in master and transaction files is correct and that the processes for maintaining that data are in control. The Approval Workflow is expected to allow our customers to route new records and changes to existing records for approvals before those changes take effect.
- Compliance
Security enhancements is expected to include creation of Segregation of Duties reporting that has become critically important in demonstrating sound security practices in a variety of regulatory audit processes. Reporting initially is planned to support procure to pay and order to cash business processes.

- Address Book
JD Edwards World intends to increase flexibility of Address Book by allowing suppliers to be paid by multiple bank accounts. Reinforcing the flexibility theme, users of JD Edwards World distribution are expected to be able to deactivate address book numbers more selectively across Accounts Receivable, Sales and Purchasing Systems.

Using existing data scrubbing and validation engines, JD Edwards World is expected to help streamline and solidify the process of information transfer with A9.1, supporting both batch and interactive uploading and downloading of information.
- Attachments
Using existing data scrubbing and validation engines, JD Edwards World is expected to help streamline and solidify the process of information transfer with A9.1, supporting both batch and interactive uploading and downloading of information. World’s A9.1 release in combination with IBM’s V5R3 operating system should allow users the ability to attach document links directly to transactions. Additional notes (formerly Generic text) is planned to enhance to store document links and then when an action is performed on the link, execute a call to that document, spreadsheet, or possible picture. Additional notes is expected to not only s allow users the flexibility to store and execute multiple document or picture links but also should provide a place for user to add additional information about the transaction and the associated documents. The attachment functionality is expected to be available to both Web and green screen users.
- Service and Warranty Management
The planned functionality of managing service and warranty contracts is planned to include the value of these functions by allowing service contracts to be recorded, materials to be returned for repair, repair orders to be executed, and repair costs to be expensed or billed to the customer. Service on items is expected to be integrated with the rest of the system, which should allow to facilitate planning, providing and accounting for that service in a seamless process.
- Lot Control Enhancements
For customers in highly regulated industries, new enhancements should allow for effective lot management across the enterprise and the retention of lot characteristics throughout this process. JD Edwards World customers have the benefit of greater flexibility and control, with visibility of lot characteristics at all times. This information is invaluable in quickly and efficiently resolving customer service issues, quality matters and possible product recalls.
- Quality Management
The effect of poor quality is enormous for any company. The ability to measure the cost of poor quality is essential to process improvement. Enhancements to the Quality Management System is planned to help our customers identify areas in the process where failures occur, reduce the costs of scrap and rework, and increase their customer satisfaction by improving overall product quality.
- Kanban
JD Edwards World A9.1 is planned to include new enhancements to the Kanban Management module to facilitate the demands of a lean/flow organization. The Kanban Management system is expected to enable an automated "pull" based kanban process that links internal and external supply chain partners.
- Spousal Life Insurance
With its flexible deduction, benefit, and accrual functionality, JD Edwards World Payroll accommodates a wide variety of calculation requirements. This enhancement intends to enable payroll to calculate life insurance premiums for employee spouses, eliminating the need for tracking information or calculating these amounts outside of Payroll.
- Positive Pay for Payroll
JD Edwards World Payroll check processing is expected to incorporate the ability to create positive pay files for transmission to the bank. A generic file format is intended to allow for various bank requirements. The process is expected to accommodate multiple pay cycles and transmittal to the bank according to the desired frequency.

Simplifying time-consuming, efficiency-draining tasks surrounding upgrades and providing standardized tools are our goals. JD Edwards World Release A9.1 is planned to provide:

A streamlined upgrade process saves valuable resources while minimizing disruptions to daily work. Data analysis tools allows for better planning, estimation, and execution of the upgrade. Tools that assist in assessing customizations simplify the process of evaluating and applying custom modifications. Net change documentation and training facilitates the adoption of software enhancements. Proactive support sessions and remote upgrade services are available throughout the upgrade process.
- Service Oriented Architecture
Enterprise systems, such as JD Edwards World, face a continuous challenge to incorporate innovative technologies. Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is a technology concept that is rapidly emerging as a powerful enabler of communication between disparate systems. Integration of business processes between JD Edwards World and other SOA enabled systems is expected to be possible with the release of A9.1 through the design of web services that expose JD Edwards World application and data logic to external systems.
- International Operations
